Pandora (singer)

Pandora is a Swedish eurodance artist. Her real name is "Anneli Magnusson" (born June 20, 1970, in Västerås). Pandora was most popular during 1990s, mainly in the Nordic countries.

Career

Pandora's career began in autumn 1993, when she was introduced to Hit Vision, the three producers Martin Ankelius, Peter Johansson and Henrik Andersson, looking for suitable singer for their musical ideas. Her debut single "Trust Me", written and produced by "Sir Martin & The Dr. Maxx Family" (i.e. Ankelius/Andersson/Johansson) became the best-selling single of the year and went gold. The album, "One Of A Kind", was released in October 1993 achieving gold in both Sweden and Finland. "Tell The World" sold platinum in several countries where the Japanese version sold over 650,000 copies. Her third album "Changes" was also produced by Ankelius/Andersson/Johansson trio and released by Universal Music. This album also sold gold in Finland and platinum in Japan. Notably the single "A Little Bit" from the Changes album sold platinum in Australia. In the year 2000, Australian star Kylie Minogue released her version of Pandora's song "On a Night Like This", that had never been released in Britain before. This is the first of two times Pandora accused a music artist of stealing her song. Pandora has participated in Melodifestivalen twice with the songs "Runaway" and "You".

2007 to the present

In 2007, Pandora worked on a project called United DJs vs. Pandora, and released three singles, Don't You Know, Trust Me and Tell The World. Another single, On A Night Like This, was released towards the end of 2007. Instead of a Greatest Hits album, the new album was reworked to give new sounds to her biggest hits over the years. The new album titled Celebration was released on 7 November 2007 in Finland and 28 November 2007 in Sweden.

Controversy

On March 28, 2007, Pandora accused British Eurovision act Scooch of having plagiarised her 1999 song "No Regrets", and plans to file a complaint with the EBU.Fact|date=June 2008 In response to the plagiarism claim, the BBC issued a statement saying that Scooch's song is "an original" and the writers "were never aware of Pandora or her songs". The BBC confirmed that there had been no duplication of her work.
