Edmonton Mercurys

Edmonton Mercurys

The Edmonton Mercurys were an intermediate senior-A ice hockey team that played in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 1940s and 50s. Known as the "Forgotten Team", the Mercurys won the 1950 World Ice Hockey Championships in London, England, and the gold medal at the 1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo, Norway — the last Canadian team to win the gold until 2002 Winter Olympics.

Louis Holmes coached the team in 1952. The Mercurys were inducted into the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 2002.
