The Golden Mile, Spain

=The Golden Mile – Spain=

The Golden Mile (La Milla de Oro) is a term for a stretch of land that lays home to a group of wineries in the province of Castilla y Leon, Spain. Geographically they lay along the Duero river starting at Tudela de Duero in the West and continuing on until it reaches Peñafiel in the East along the N-122 motorway. The wineries associated with this strip of land are some of the more influential wineries located in Spain and produce some of the most exclusive wines. They include: Vega Sicilia, Pingus, Abadia Retuerta, Alion, Mauro, Pingón and Hacienda Monasterio. The special terroir of this area provides optimal conditions for growing among others Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. Known mainly for their red wines some of the producers have attempted to produce decent white wines often to mixed results.
