Nephi the Disciple

Nephi the Disciple
This article refers to Nephi, the author of Third Nephi, and one of the twelve disciples of Jesus. See also Nephi (disambiguation).

According to the Book of Mormon, Nephi (early 1st century) was the name of the son of Nephi, son of Helaman, who was given charge over the Nephite records and other sacred things. He was the prophet during the birth and death of Christ. The Gadianton robber's threat to murder every believer unless the signs of Christ's birth (a day and a night and a day without darkness; a bright star in the sky) came at a certain period of time. When Nephi learned of this, he prayed to God to deliver them from their enemies. Christ revealed to Nephi that he would be born into the world on the next day.

Nephi preached repentance to the very wicked Nephites between Christ's birth and death. Christ ordained him as a disciple when he arrived in America.
