Philip Gross

Philip Gross

Philip Gross (born 1952) is a poet, novelist and playwright. He was born in Delabole, Cornwall and grew up in Plymouth. He lives in Bristol and has taught creative writing at Bath Spa University College. In 2004 he was appointed Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Glamorgan.

In 1981 he won a Gregory Award and in 1982 won the National Poetry Competition. His poetry collections include "The Ice Factory", "Cat's Whisker", "The Son of the Duke of Nowhere", "I.D.", "The Wasting Game" and "Mappa Mundi". He has also published books for young people, written plays, work for radio, a children's opera and collaborated with musicians, painters, dancers and other writers. He currently teaches Creative Writing studies at the University of Glamorgan.
