History

The College was founded in 1928 by the Sisters of the Congregation of Our Lady of Sion with 15 students. MM John was the first Director/Principal who led the new school through the financial difficulties of the Depression.

Enrolment continued to grow and by 1958 there were 238 girls studying at the College. Now over 750 students are taught and supported by almost 100 staff members. It is located in Box Hill, adjacent to St Francis Xavier Primary School.

In 2002 the current black and green school uniform was introduced to replace the previous pink, cherry and brown.

Houses

Our Lady of Sion has four houses, each named after a place where the Virgin Mary appeared. The houses and their colours are:[1]

  • Carmel (gold)
  • Lourdes (blue)
  • Fatima (red)
  • Loreto (green)
