World Wide Cage Network

World Wide Cage Network

The World Wide Cage Network (WWCN) is a network of mixed martial arts promotions from around the world. The common aims for the network is to facilitate talent exchanges and to unify cage-staged mixed martial arts competitions. The network is an initiative of Greatest Common Multiple, a promotion company responsible for Demolition of Octagon Gear, Japan's first cage-staged MMA promotion.

Aims

The first objective for the WWCN will be the liberal exchange of foreign talent. An eight-man tournament with international WWCN representatives is already planned for Cage Warriors in November. In the future, rule unification for the WWCN body may take place.

GCM, promoters of the Cage Force (formerly Demolition of Octagon Gear) events in Japan, stated that the ultimate goals of the union are to foster the development of fighters on the international stage and have a means to facilitate the promotion of international talent to the Ultimate Fighting Championship, the world's largest cage-staged mixed martial arts promotion.

In order to accomplish these goals, GCM also announced changes in their original DOG rules by eliminating the use of knees attacks on the ground, and introducing a set of rules mirror the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts utilized by United States athletic commissions. The promotion explained the decision was taken in order to model Cage Force under similar rules as those used by the UFC
