Elekere

Elekere is one of the 47 woredas in the Somali Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Afder Zone, Elekere is bordered on the south by Afder, on the southwest by Cherti, on the northwest by the Oromia Region, on the northeast by the Shebelle River which separates it from the Gode Zone, and on the east by Mirab Imi. The major town in Elekere is Kere.

This woreda is primarily inhabited by the Darod clan of the Somali people.

Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 40,584, of whom 19,234 were males and 21,350 were females; 1,527 or 3.76% of its population are urban dwellers, which is less than the Zone average of 8.6%.
