The Wohlstandskinder ( [IPA|ˈvoːlʃtantskɪndɐ] , "Children of prosperity", shortform WSK or W$K) was a
punk rock band fromOverath nearCologne ,Germany that was founded in1995 . They define their music as "Provinzrock" ("Province rock"). After their 10th anniversary in December 2005 they produced a double-live-album, which was also released as DVD.Name
The "The" in the bandname was added in 2000, according to the official statement on their website as an "Adelsprädikat" ("an ennobling descriptor") and as sign for "Posertum" and "Möchtegernglamour" ("Wannabe-glamour").

The early songs of The Wohlstandskinder were socially critical, politically left and often shameless. On their way to success, which lead to a
major label taking them up, their music got much more subtle, and almost completely lost its shameless style.Members
