Ozgur Uyanik

Ozgur Uyanik is a film director.

First as an executive and then heading the development department at Scala Productions Limited (a company set up by Nik Powell after the collapse of Palace Productions), Ozgur helped shepherd a twelve-strong slate of films and successfully saw in to production the likes of "Last Orders" (Michael Caine, Bob Hoskins & Helen Mirren), "Black and White" (Robert Carlyle, Charles Dance & Kerry Fox), "Leo" (Joseph Fiennes, Elizabeth Shue, Dennis Hopper & Sam Shepard) and "" (animated feature voiced by Nicolas Cage and Kate Winslet) for which he was subsequently responsible for selling the worldwide rights to MGM Home Entertainment, acting as the sales agent for The Film Consortium. During this time he also worked on the development of "Stoned", directed by Stephen Woolley. He has also sold rights to "Black and White" and re-licensed "The Crying Game" amongst other titles in the Palace back catalogue.

Currently he is developing several projects with Scala and new production outfit 2nd Floor Productions Limited. He has written and directed several award-winning short films including "Oblivious" starring Sienna Guillory which won Best European Short Film at the Brussels European Film Festival [http://www.fffb.be/ (official website)] as well as being short-listed for a BAFTA, Cine 5 (Turkiye) Top Ten Best Short Films 2001 and was invited to screen at the Greenwich International Film Festival and sold to Universal Sci-Fi Channel and Canal+ International for several territories.

A keen filmmaker from an early age, he was a member of the Institute of Amateur Cinematographers [http://www.theiac.org.uk/ (official website)] , taking part in filmmaking competitions with his home movies and winning several regional awards. During the same period, he was a member of The Children's Film Unit (CFU) [http://www.thechildrensfilmunit.com (CFU website)] based in the UK, but respected throughout the world, the CFU is an Educational Charity, which trains young people from the ages of ten to sixteen in all aspects of film-making.
