Sandwell College is a college of further and higher education located in Sandwell Metropolitan Borough, a municipal area of the West Midlands in
England .It was formed in September
1986 on a merger betweenWest Bromwich College andWarley College , and its title reflected the name of the local borough which had been formed 12 years earlier - itself a merger of the former West Bromwich and Warley boroughs.The main campus of Sandwell College is located in High Street,
West Bromwich ; these buildings previously formed West Bromwich College.The Business and Technology campus of the college is located in Pound Road, Oldbury; it was previously the buildings of Warley College.
In late July 2008, Sandwell college decided to withdraw the key city & guilds 2330 and any future part “P” electrical engineering courses forthwith, meaning that students studying the course had to look for placements at a new college. The college said decision was made on the course make up and tutoring losses, but it may have resulted in poor ofsted report scores for the year and a very low city & guilds pass rate.
Late July 2008 Sandwell college decided to withdraw the key city & guilds 2330 and any future part “P” electrical engineering courses forthwith, leaving it progressing students stranded to find there own placements at a new college.
They said decision was made on the course make up and tutoring losses, but it may have resulted by poor ofsted report scores for this year, a very low city & guilds pass rate.They also withdrew C&G 2330 level 2 and 3 full and part time evenings. This was not on the students side but rested more with staff having low morel, illnesses, substitution of tutors and non structured lessons with students left on there own whist staff took other classes and the students expense.
