"A Question of EastEnders" was a one-off special episode of the quiz show "A Question of Sport" focusing on the popular soap opera "EastEnders". It was broadcast on BBC One on 15 February 2000 to mark "EastEnders"' 15th anniversary on 19 February.

Participants

The special was hosted by "A Question of Sport" presenter Gaby Roslin, and had two teams, each led by a team captain; Wendy Richard and Adam Woodyatt, who play Pauline Fowler and Ian Beale in "EastEnders", and have been in the programme since its first episode on 19 February 1985.On Richard's team were "Blue Peter" presenter Katy Hill and stand-up comedian Harry Hill. Woodyatt's team consisted of Michelle Collins, who previously played Cindy Beale in "EastEnders", and Jeremy Spake, who became famous for appearing in the television docusoap "Airport".The show was filmed in front of a live audience.

Format

The first round of the quiz consisted of the teams being shown humorous pictures of "EastEnders" cast members, and being asked to identify them. Both teams scored six points. In the second round, the teams were shown two clips from "EastEnders" and asked to identify which year the clip was from. Woodyatt's team guessed both correctly and took the lead, with ten points to six. [Each correct answer was worth two points.] Round three consisted of questions about the Beale/Fowler family - fictional characters in "EastEnders". Each team scored two points, leaving the score at twelve - eight to Adam Woodyatt's team. In round four, teams had to guess which "EastEnders" cast member was being described by three relevant clips. Each team again scored two points, leaving the score at fourteen - ten. The fifth round was a 'mystery guest' round - where the teams had to guess who a disguised "EastEnders" actor was from a series of clips showing the disguised actor. Both teams answered correctly, and the scores increased to sixteen - twelve, with Woodyatt's team still in the lead. Round seven was the same as round one, with humorous and ambiguous pictures being shown. Woodyatt's team maintained their lead, and at the end of the round, the score was twenty-six - fourteen. The eighth and final round was a 'quick fire questions' round, where Gaby Roslin would ask questions and the quickest contestant to press their buzzer and answer correctly got a point. Woodyatt's team scored ten points and Richard's scored two, making the final score thirty-six - sixteen to Adam Woodyatt, Jeremy Spake and Michelle Collins.
