List of British rulers and high officials in Bengal

The following list gives the names, titles and tenures of the supreme British officials in Bengal between 1681 and 1947. The first is William Hedges, who was appointed the first Chief Agent of Bengal by the British East India Company in 1681. The last is Frederick Burrows, who served the last Governor of Bengal until India became independent in August 1947.
