"DJ Max Portable" is a PSP version of the web-based music mixing game, DJMAX, from Korean game maker Pentavision. The game is split up in three difficulties, being the 4 button, 6 button, and 8 button modes. Besides the normal mode where you play through 4 courses with increasing difficulty, you also have a club mode where you play through 4 songs which are related based on either musical genre or theme of the song. In freestyle mode, you can play in either of the three different button modes and play the songs without restrictions. Modifications can be made with the speed of the game and faders. On top of that, a lot of songs have a special harder mode depending on the button mode you are in.

International Version, Changes, and Censorship

Pentavision remade the game as DJ Max Portable International Version. The difference is the letter I in the upper right corner of the logo. It allowed the ability to play in one of three languages (including English) and a few changes.

*The song Dreadnought has been replaced with River Flow (even though River Flow was supposed to be an added song, the reason being the way the music video portrays George W. Bush) courses with Dreadnought have the song replaced with River Flow as well.
*Some songs have been taken out altogether.
*Some songs lyrics have been censored and some music videos have been censored as well which since it is a music game, could throw off players.
*The opening movie has been subtitled.

New Installment

Its new installment, DJ Max Portable 2, had been released for the PlayStation Portable on March 30, 2007 along with a few original soundtracks from DJ Max Portable and similar features. Its main features includes Online/Network play, cross-compatibility with its predecessor, and as well as online ranking.

In this year 2008, it has been announced that Pentavision will continue with another version of DJ Max Portable. It will be called DJ Max Fever, seeing a North American and European release, and is reported to be a combination of DJ Max Portable and DJ Max Portable 2, with songs from both versions, and similar gameplay. Game release dates are sketchy, but a reliable source tells us November 8, 2008 for the European release, [http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/psp/] and November 11, 2008 for the North American release.
