Lord John (band)

Lord John (band)

Lord John was an American Bomp! Records band in the late 1980s. Their sound has been compared to that of Echo & The Bunnymen, yet with enough psychedelia in the mix to often have them touted as part of the then emerging paisley underground movement, which was gaining momentum on both the West Coast, as well in the New York underground. Their debut album "Six Days of Sound" (1986) was praised by critics [http://www.bomp.com/4024Press.html] . The album was also released in Greece on the Hitch Hyke label where it sold surprisingly well. Six songs were subsequently recorded in New York City sessions for a follow-up album but were never released. Bootlegs have surfaced, which show almost an early shoegaze direction.

Lord John were original New Jersey psych revivalists, who not only tried to recreate the beauty of the original psychedelic movement, but hoped to move it forward into the modern era. Lord John was an integral part of the New Jersey 80's psych scene, along with such legendary bands as: The Secret Syde, The Laughing Soupdish, The Watch Children, Mod Fun, and Tiny Lights.
