- Lord John (band)
Lord John was an American
Bomp! Records band in the late 1980s. Their sound has been compared to that ofEcho & The Bunnymen , yet with enoughpsychedelia in the mix to often have them touted as part of the then emergingpaisley underground movement, which was gaining momentum on both the West Coast, as well in the New York underground. Their debut album "Six Days of Sound" (1986) was praised by critics [http://www.bomp.com/4024Press.html] . The album was also released inGreece on theHitch Hyke label where it sold surprisingly well. Six songs were subsequently recorded inNew York City sessions for a follow-up album but were never released. Bootlegs have surfaced, which show almost an earlyshoegaze direction.Lord John were original New Jersey psych revivalists, who not only tried to recreate the beauty of the original psychedelic movement, but hoped to move it forward into the modern era.
