"The Thirteenth Pearl" is the fifty-sixth volume in the Nancy Drew mystery series. It was first published in 1979 under the pseudonym Carolyn Keene. The actual author was ghostwriter Harriet Stratemeyer Adams.

Plot summary

Nancy Drew is asked to locate a stolen pearl necklace that is unusual and very valuable. She soon learns that strange and dangerous people are responsible for the theft. They begin to harass her while she is still in River Heights, and this only intensifies when she and her father go to Japan. They finally manage to kidnap Nancy and Ned Nickerson when she returns to River Heights.

Through clever sleuthing, Nancy is able to penetrate the rites of an amazing group of pearl worshipers, some of whose members are far from devout, and she uncovers underhanded dealings of certain employees of World Wide Gems, Inc., a tremendous international jewelry company. Readers will love accompanying Nancy, disguised as a Japanese girl, in this adventure in Tokyo.

Although other novels follow this one, "The Thirteenth Pearl" is the end of the "original" 56-book series published.
