"Something Kinda Ooooh" is the thirteenth single to be released by British girl band Girls Aloud. The single is taken from the girls' Greatest Hits collection - "The Sound of Girls Aloud", and was released in the UK physically on 23 October 2006, and digitally on 16 October 2006.

Release and reception

"Something Kinda Ooooh" was premiered on The Chris Moyles Show on BBC Radio 1 on 12 September 2006 at 08:17 UTC.Fact|date=February 2008

On 4 October 2006, "Something Kinda Ooooh" became the first Girls Aloud single since "Sound of the Underground" to go onto Radio 1's A List, guaranteeing the song at least 20 plays a week before the single release.

A live recording of the song appears as a b-side on the 2007 single "Sexy! No No No...". Perhaps as a result of this the song moved back into the iTunes Top 100 Pop Songs list, peaking at a position of #62. Girls Aloud performed a downtempo version with a piano arrangement at an intimate gig for Birmingham's leading radio station, 96.4 BRMB.

The song was featured on the soundtrack to the film "Run, Fat Boy, Run".

Music video

The music video for "Something Kinda Ooooh" was filmed on the day of its premiere on UK music TV station "The Box" on September 21, 2006. However, The Box had actually shown an early edit of the video, and the finished version was shown on Channel 4's Popworld on September 30, 2006. It followed the footsteps of previous Girls Aloud videos, becoming a popular request on music video channels and spending weeks in the Top 5.

It features the girls "driving" sports cars in front of a green screen showing the streets of London, with the girls dancing in front of strobing lights. Cheryl has a car to herself, Nadine shares with Kimberley, and Nicola shares with Sarah. The featured sports cars of the video are a red TVR Tuscan 2 convertible, and a blue TVR Tamora.

In a recent interview on MTV Hits with Girls Aloud, Cole admitted that "Something Kinda Ooooh" was not their best video. She, along with the rest of the girls, blamed lack of time for the video's outcome and revealed that the video was not what she or the girls had wanted it to be.

On 16 October 2006, the single was released as a download. It raced up the iTunes Most Downloaded Chart, scoring the girls a number one. The download success on here led to "Something Kinda Ooooh" entering the official UK Top 40 at number five on download sales alone, a first for a British act.
