"The Lady in Red" is a 1935 Warner Bros. cartoon in the "Merrie Melodies" series.
As with many of the early "Merrie Melodies" cartoons, part of its purpose was to promote a Warner song. In this case, the 1935 Warner film "In Caliente" (also known as "Viva Señorita") featured a song called "The Lady in Red". [ [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0026523/ In Caliente (1935) ] ] Like the film, the cartoon was set in Mexico. The song would later become a staple of Carl Stalling's catalog of musical cues when he took over music direction of the Warner cartoons in 1936.
