"A Glass of Blessings" is a novel by Barbara Pym, first published in 1958. The title is taken from a poem by George Herbert.

Plot summary

The central character, Wilmet Forsyth, is a married woman with a comfortable lifestyle and no need to go out to work. She fancies herself in love with Piers Longridge, the brother of a close friend, and imagines he is her secret admirer (the admirer is in fact the husband of a close friend of Wilmet's). Wilmet fails to realise that Piers is gay until she becomes aware of his relationship with Keith, a young man she regards as rather common.

The treatment of homosexuality in the novel is understated, and is almost unique in Pym's work.
