List of BBC London presenters and reporters

"BBC London" is the BBC's brand for regional news in the Central and Greater London area of the United Kingdom. The television news service, "BBC London News" is broadcast on BBC One after the main weekday BBC News bulletins on the channel and also at weekends. A number of presenters who also double as reporters are used, many of whom have been with the programme since its launch or prior to this, with the programme's predecessor "Newsroom South East". Below are the details of some of the current presenting team:

Riz Lateef

Riz Lateef is the anchor of the "BBC London News" weekday 18:30 bulletin on BBC One.

She joined the programme in 2004 as a reporter and occasional newsreader. Following the departure of Emily Maitlis in March 2006 to present on BBC News 24, Riz was promoted to co-present the flagship 18:30 "BBC London News" programme on BBC One briefly sharing responsibility with Asad Ahmad, before being confirmed as the main presenter.

Previously, she has reported for "Breakfast" and presented regional news for the BBC in the North East & Cumbria. Riz was also a guest presenter on BBC One's Holiday programme in 2003 and 2004

Asad Ahmad

Asad Ahmad is an occasional presenter of the main 18:30 program on BBC1. He previously co-presented the program on alternate fortnights with Riz Lateef, and can now be seen presenting the short bulletins as part of "Breakfast", "BBC News at One" and "BBC News at Ten", as well as also occasionally reporting for the program.

Before joining BBC London, Asad presented BBC Scotland's flagship news bulletin "Reporting Scotland" as well as the news bulletins on "Breakfast".

Louisa Preston

Louisa Preston presents the morning breakfast shows on Thursdays and Fridays as well as working alongside fellow presenters making appearances on most show timings.

Previously with the BBC, Louisa has presented the news briefing on "BBC Breakfast", as well as occasionally presenting the late edition of "BBC Look East" for viewers in the west of the Anglia region. In the past Louisa worked on the now-defunct ITN News Channel, she was one of the main five presenters of this channel providing audiences with the weekend news bulletins and most lunchtime and evening bulletins. Before becoming a presenter, she had worked a production journalist for ITN.

Mike Ramsden

Mike Ramsden is a presenter on "BBC London News". He can be seen in the London area in bulletins during "BBC Breakfast", at 1.30pm during the BBC London lunchtime bulletin, on the main evening programme at 6.30pm, and during the "BBC News at Ten".

Mike is also a reporter for "BBC London News", working on the biggest stories that affect the capital. He covered the highs and lows of July 2005, when London won the bid to host the 2012 Olympics, and then was the victim of bomb attacks. More recently he researched, filmed and edited a series of reports from Africa on the work of a London charity improving the lives of African farmers.

Mike cut his teeth in BBC local radio in the East Midlands. He presented the drivetime news programme on BBC Radio Leicester, before moving to television on East Midlands Today based in Nottingham.

Victoria Hollins

Victoria Hollins is the latest person to join the presenting team on BBC London, often presenting the morning bulletins. She had previously worked on BBC London's radio programme as a newsreader.

port: Mark "Brighty" Bright

Mark Bright (born June 6 1962) is an ex-footballer who now presents the sports news for BBC London, commonly appearing on Thursday nights on the flagship evening show.

Many viewers remember his appearances for Crystal Palace, and later Sheffield Wednesday. Mark ended his career with Charlton FC in 1999 after assisting the club to reach the premiership. Following football Mark continues to engage in sport, running a number of London Marathons and Great North Runs to raise funds for Cancer Research making Mark the ideal candidate to present the sports features.

Weather: Peter Cockroft

Peter Cockroft is a British weather forecaster, he joined the Met Office in 1974, though he didn't become a weather forecaster until 1990. He joined the BBC in 1991 and became one of the presenters of the national weather forecasts, in 2002 he became the main weather presenter on "BBC London News". He lives in Oxfordshire with his wife Ann and daughter Rosie.

Peter is the face of "BBC London"'s weather forecasting, providing forecasts for all bulletins, often from the roof in the summer months during the 18:30 programme.

Others

Traffic and travel updates are provided during morning bulletins on "Breakfast" by Jules Lang (née Wilson) and Kate Allen, who is currently on maternity leave. Both have also appeared in the past on BBC News 24 to give updates during certain events affecting Central London. Alan Soady presents news bulletins. Tim Donovan is the Political Editor for BBC London, and is also the presenter of the regional opt-out on The Politics Show.

The show commonly gives host to various new talent, the weather in the mornings being presented by numerous different presenters. Some presenters and reporters have moved to the programme from other regional news programmes, such as Alex Bushill, formerly of Spotlight who went on to become West of England correspondent for the national news.
