ArrayComm is a wireless communications software company based in San Jose, California, in Silicon Valley. Co-founded in 1992 by Martin Cooper, Chairman and well-respected pioneer of the wireless industry. The company is affiliated with the Ygomi group.

ArrayComm provides multi-antenna signal processing (MAS) software for wireless communications systems, often referred to as Smart Antennas or MIMO. The company's software is running in more than 300,000 base stations, in 17 countries around the world. Client device solutions are being developed by the company at present.

The technology improves wireless subscriber experiences and the economics of radio networks. The solution is independent of the network system and supports industry standards including WCDMA, High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA), GSM, WiMAX, Personal Handy-phone System (PHS), and High Capacity Spatial Division Multiple Access (HC-SDMA).

Jargon-Free

In a crowded room, you can focus your hearing on the person with whom you're speaking and effectively ignore the conversations around you. Conversely, if you're trying to get the attention of someone down the street, you can cup your hands around your mouth, directing your voice to improve the odds of being heard and understood. MAS is software that allows wireless systems (both end user devices and carrier equipment) to communicate clearly, by solving performance problems that result from the current inefficient radio 'conversations'. Multiple antennas using this software doubles or quadruples performance, by increasing the selective listening and transmission capabilities.

Key Partnerships

Japan Radio Company and ArrayComm announced a technology alliance, through which JRC will develop base station radio head products to deliver the maximum performance of ArrayComm’s A-MAS™ (Multi-Antenna Signal) processing software.

Alvarion Ltd. and ArrayComm announced their ongoing technology partnership for integration of ArrayComm's multi-antenna signal processing software (A-MAS) into Alvarion's 4Motion's Radio Access Network Solutions. Alvarion's WiMAX platform will leverage ArrayComm's A-MAS Advanced Multi-Antenna software in order to offer 2 to 4 times more coverage and spectral efficiency than the WiMAX Forum's baseline profiles, through a unique combination of Beamforming, MIMO and adaptive interference cancellation, while maintaining full profile and standards compliance.

SOMA Networks Inc. and ArrayComm announced a joint development effort. Under this agreement, SOMA Networks will integrate ArrayComm's multi-antenna signal processing (MAS) software, including support of MIMO, Beamforming (AAS) and combined MIMO/AAS modes, into SOMA's FlexMAX Mobile WiMAX System. The combination of ArrayComm's adaptive antenna software with SOMA's fully converged, all-IP broadband wireless access solution will allow Mobile WiMAX network operators to benefit from the greatest possible cell range and coverage, increased spectral efficiencies and greater network capacity.

KT Corporation and ArrayComm announced their agreement to collaborate on improving KT's new mobile broadband WiBro network by integrating multi-antenna signal processing technologies. KT is building an advanced mobile broadband service in the 2.3 GHz band. Using this license, KT is leading in the effort to deploy WiBro to meet the consumer and business demand for mobile broadband in South Korea. ArrayComm multi-antenna signal processing software (A-MAS) is being incorporated in WiBro and WiMAX client devices and base stations by multiple manufacturers to reduce costs and improve performance.

Alumni Group

Since inception, the company has had a large contingent of employees who have maintained close contact with each other owing to the paucity of companies in the mobile wireless space. Initially this group was hosted by Yahoo, though more recently it has been reestablished as a [http://www.linkedin.com/groupInvitation?groupID=156491&sharedKey=5C5F684F5DED LinkedIn Group] to facilitate business networking.
