Kraljeva Sutjeska

Kraljeva Sutjeska is a Franciscan monastery in central Bosnia. It is located near Kakanj, in village of Kraljevska Sutjeska, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The historically important dwelling of the Bosnian kings, Bobovac, is also nearby.

The monastery contains:

*The places from which we protect and spread the cultural and historical inheritance of the medieval Bosnian kingdom
*The Franciscan monastery: originally built in the middle of 14 th.century with its uniqueness and beauty must leave you impressed and inspired.
*Museum: as a part of monastery it houses priceless historical treasures.
*The monastery library: which keeps rare and valuable historical records.
*Grgurevo: the site of the kings' castle from from 1330 .The remains are still there.There is a short part between the castle remains and the monastery.
*Bobovac: the residency of the Bosnian kings during medieval times- today it is the site of the mausoleum of the royals and the remnants of the Kotromanic dinasty castle.
*The old bosnian house: with the original archictecture from 18 th. century.
*The Mehmed II Fatih mosque: from 15th century, which is claimed to be the oldest in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Population

The Census of 1991 identified about 92% of the population as Bosnian Croats, and 2.9% as Bosnjaks.
