Carroll's Woods

In the mid-20th century, The Carroll family willed a large stretch of undeveloped forest north of one of their farms to Rosemount High School on the condition that it never be sold or developed other than the minimal amount necessary to support walking paths. Because of this, there is to the present day a large, wild forest on the grounds of RHS known as "Carroll's Woods," which serves both as a recreational area and lesson space for students, and to screen the high school off from encroaching urban sprawl, unlike many other high schools in the area which have seen housing creep right up to the very edge of the property line. The school board says they have had problems with school students taking "smoke breaks" or going there before and after school to smoke. Several tobacco use and marijuana use arrests have been made in the woods.Fact|date=August 2008
