Bubble Hits is an Irish owned digital television music channel owned by Creative Sounds. It currently broadcasts two channels; one for the Republic of Ireland and a European feed which covers the United Kingdom, Hungary, Poland and Germany.

The station is operated by James Hyland (25) and Lee Walsh (24)

Location

The company, and their studios are located in Ashbourne, County Meath, Republic of Ireland. [ [http://www.cro.ie CRO - Home ] ] [ [http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2095-2320054_1,00.html Interview: Mark Paul: Bright Idea sees Bubble Hits begin - Sunday Times - Times Online ] ] . They also have studios based in London, UK.The channel is broadcast free-to-air, therefore viewers do not need to have a Sky subscription to view the channel. Despite being Irish-owned, it is not licensed by the BCI but instead by the UK's Ofcom to "Creative Sounds UK", who are based in Northchapel. This is not unheard of amongst Irish channels, as well as those from other countries with restrictive broadcasting legislation, such as Sweden. It is presumably due to BCI's requirements that a high, percentage of programming must be Irish produced.

Advertising

Originally Bubble Hits claimed to be Europe’s only music channel without adverts. Since February 2007, the channel started carrying adverts. Adverts usually last 60 seconds and appear after 3 song intervals. The station now promises to be no more than 60 seconds away from the next song. Commercial breaks appear to consist of only two advertisements. This is a unique approach to advertising amongst channels within Europe.

Bubble Hits (Ireland)

A specific Bubble Hits channel for the Irish market (Bubble Hits Ireland) launched on Sky Digital, UPC Ireland, Smart, Magnet Networks, SCTV on Monday 19th May 2008. With specific programming and advertising, the schedule features more localised content including music videos, music shows, chart shows and entertainment news specific to the Republic of Ireland & it is also localised by Irish advertisements.
