Attoor

Attoor - (`at-toor) is the plural of Attar.

Attoor is the more commen Arabic term used for essential oils which may be extracted from the petals of various types of rose, jasmine, gardenia, etc. The process is also done with Oud, Patchouli, Sandalwood and many other types of Musks and Ambers. These essenses are extracted through steam distillation, while flower and other absolutes are obtained through solvent extraction or supercritical carbon dioxide extraction, with the absolute being used more commonly in perfumery or Attoor. Even with their prohibitive price and the advent of organic synthesis, Attoor oils are still perhaps the most widely used essential oil in perfumery.
