Shawn Connally

Shawn Connally is managing editor of Make and now [http://craftzine.com Craft] magazine, both published by O’Reilly Media. Previously, she was a writer and editor for several online and print publications. Shawn began working for O’Reilly in the mid-90s, writing for GNN, the Global Network Navigator – the web’s first commercial website. She continued at O’Reilly and worked as deputy editor of Web Review, one of the first weekly zines on the internet. She was hired by sports web company Quokka Sports and worked on two Olympic sites, The Whitbread, and the official America’s Cup website (as field production manager in New Zealand in 1999-2000). She and her husband, Bruce Stewart -- former editorial director for the [http://oreillynet.com O'Reilly Network] and web editor of [http://oreillynet.com/etel Emerging Telephony] -- collaborated on a series of articles for ZDNet about living in New Zealand at the turn of the millennium. She has also written for the Marin Independent Journal, Web Review, the Industry Standard, Yahoo Life, Web Techniques, and publications in Japan and New Zealand. Besides her work as a journalist and web producer, Shawn has worked as a theater and music critic in the Bay Area, and was also a publicist for the record label [http://www.musicforlittlepeople.com/ Music for Little People] .
