Rax (comics)

Rax (comics)

Rax is a fictional character, a mutant in the Marvel Comics Universe. His first appearance was in "X-Men" v2, #100.

A member of the race of supermutants known as the Neo, Rax became the new leader, or Jaeger, of the Neo after the accidental death of the former Jaeger, Hunter, at the hands of Cecilia Reyes. Rax wielded a high-tech crossbow which he could fire with uncanny accuracy before it was destroyed in battle with Cecilia Reyes.

The hidden Neo civilisation was devastated when the High Evolutionary removed all mutants' powers, and it was this act that caused the Neo to declare war on both humans and mutants alike.

Rax later tries to prove himself by fighting against Gambit all by himself. He tracks him down to New Orleans and starts a fight, but Gambit with his upgraded powers is clearly superior. However Rax endangers innocent bystanders and waits for Remy to use his energies to save them from falling debris. Now weakened, he is easily defeated by Rax, right as the other Neo arrive. Domina is proud of Rax and wants him to kill his prey, but then the unified guilds of New Orleans enter the scene. Domina announces to spare Gambit’s life and leaves, since it is clear who was victorious, though Rax and Remy know who really was the superior combatant.

Later after the Master of Magnetism sought to recruit the Neo into his war against mankind,Rax was literally torn apart by the wrath of Magneto.

Powers

Had peak human strength, speed, endurance, and reflexes, extra-human senses enable him to sense base emotions and track others by trace genetic material, hydraulic crossbow.
