Office of Property Disposal

Office of Property Disposal

The Office of Property Disposal is a division of the Public Buildings Service under the General Services Administration of the United States federal government charged with disposing of surplus real property that federal agencies no longer require.

The property the Office is responsible for — which includes 'land, office buildings, warehouses, former post offices, farms, family residences, commercial facilities, or airfields located in the United States, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, or the U.S. Pacific Territories' [1] — is made available to both government and private bidders. In some cases, land sold for public purposes (such as parks or welfare) may be made available for a discount of up to 100% of the fair-market value. [1]
