"Angels in the Endzone" is a 1997 film directed by Gary Nadeau. Created to continue the remake of the 1951 film "Angels in the Outfield", this movie is about a high school football team that really is not that good. They have no chance of winning the championship game. "Unless a miracle happens..."

Cast

Plot

Westfield Angel's high school football team is the worst ever. It has not won a single game in years. Jesse Harper is the best player and is playing as tailback, shedding a new light for the team. After a terrible accident in a rain storm in which his father, Peter Harper, dies, Jesse feels lonely and quits the team. Peter Harper was himself actually a football star in his high school days.

On the night that Jesse quits the team, Kevin, his younger brother, confronts him and tells him that football was a major part of Jesse's life. He tells Jesse that he belongs in the football team. Jesse responds by saying that the only way he would get back into the football team is if the team starts winning.

Jesse goes upstairs to his room and Kevin stays behind in the kitchen. He starts praying to the angels to come and help the football team to win some games, so that Jesse would start playing again. The next day, the angels come. They are headed by Al, the only returning character from "Angels in the Outfield". Kevin is the only one who can see the angels, though.

Game after game after game, Westfield keep winning with the angels' help. Kevin becomes a "lucky charm" for his brother's football team, since he can tell Coach Buck what the angels need.

At the same time somewhere else, Jesse begins to associate with some really bad people. At one point in the movie, Jesse distracts a window washer at the gas station as his "shady" friends rob the cash registers. After Jesse pays the window washer, he leaves his wallet behind. The station attendant picks it up and has the police visit the Harper's home.

The championship game is the following day, and Coach Buck asks Jesse if he could possibly come back to the team and play. Jesse accepts, since now he has confidence his team can win.

The climax of this movie comes on the day of the championship game, coincidentally between the "Westfield Angels" and the "Screaming Demons". However, Kevin is facing a slight predicament, because there is a sort of "heavenly law" that angels cannot help in championship games. In the end, Kevin motivates the team by spontaneously flapping his arms like an angel. Soon, the entire football field is filled with people flapping arms like angels (except for the "Screaming Demons", of course.) The movie ends when Westfield wins the football game and the spirit of Peter Harper appears to Jesse after he wins.
