Peace and Progress (national motto)

Peace and Progress is the current national motto of Japan succeeding "National Wealth and Military Strength" or Fukoku Kyohei ("Enrich the country, strengthen the military") of the Shōwa era during World War I and World War II after the Meiji Restoration.
