Rajpura is a city and a municipal council in Patiala district in the Indian state of Punjab.

Geography

Rajpura is located at coord|30.48|N|76.6|E|. Besides being an important industrial town of Punjab, it also has historical importance.

Rajpura is an industrial town. There are number of large scale industries like HLL, Amrit Banaspati Company Limited, Siel Chemicals Limited,Amber Enterpsises Limited, etc. and there are large number of small scale industries. Presently Mr. Raj Kumar Khurana is its MLA, he is from SAD-BJP combine.

Rajpura has an average literacy rate of 74%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 78%, and female literacy is 70%. In Rajpura, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Rajpura is situated on the National Highway No. 1 which has been stretched from Kolkatta to Amritsar. Rajpura can be regarded as 'Gateway of Punjab' as all road and rail transport needs to touch Rajpura for the routes going to other major cities of Punjab as well as Jammu & Kashmir. Rajpura has north india's only orphanage center "SOS". Rajpura's timber market is one the largest timber market in Punjab.

Rajpura, being a tehsil, is best place to shop around for the people from near by villagers and localides.( Rajpura as a tehsil includes more than 100 villages under its muncipal limts).

we can devide rajpura in three parts. one is Rajpura Town And second is Old rajpura and third villages. in town people who came from Pakistan called bhawalpuri live. these people were very poor at that time they came from pakistan after partion. they work hard. in rajpura there is a computer engineer named Jatinder Verma mobile No. 9464251446.Now Rajpura became as Educational Centre.
