Presbyterian Hospital is a tertiary care facility located in Charlotte, North Carolina. with 593 licensed beds. It is the city's second largest hospital system and is a regional referral center with one of the busiest emergency departments in the Charlotte metropolitan area and Mecklenburg County, NC. The hospital has a rich history dating back to the turn of the 20th century as it started as a 20 bed hospital in uptown Charlotte. In 1918 Presbyterian hospital moved to its current location on Hawthorne Lane in Charlotte's Elizabeth neighborhood. Today, Presbyterian operates two community hospitals in Matthews, NC and Huntersville, NC. It is an affiliate of Winston-Salem, NC based Novant Health.
