Byadgi is a town in Haveri district in the state of Karnataka, India.The town is famous for the red Byadgi chilli.The surrounding areas of Byadgi produce chilli ( red in color & long ) which is dried in sunlight and sent to different markets. This spicy chilli is one of the common ingredients used in Udupi cuisine.Today the use of this chillies is seen in abroad also.

Demographics

Byadgi has an average literacy rate of 67%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 74% and female literacy of 60%. 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.
