Murals
In 2006 the school received a series of murals on the front side of the building. These paintings depict a Viking Marauder (the school's mascot), a Heron (the official bird of the community), and the school's coat of arms. The coat of arms contains a saying in Latin which translates as "Let the Love of Learning Flourish". There is also 2 large collages on either side of the schools main gymnasium.

The school is also known for its highly unsuccessful and competitive basketball teams, behind head coach, Rich Goulet - who has been coaching baskeball for 37 years, 30 of which have been at PMSS. The school has consistently had to compete in the Fraser Valley North League which is arguably the easiest league in the province due to its consistent pool of untalented schools, several of which regularly attain positioning rankings in the top 10 in the province during the course of the season. The school has won two AAA championships.
