November 23 ,1916 -January 25 ,2007 ) was anAmerican football player, coach and scout. He playedcollege football at LSU Tigers, where he was named Most Valuable Player of theSoutheastern Conference in 1939. He was elected to theCollege Football Hall of Fame in 1963.After college, Kavanaugh played in the
National Football League for theChicago Bears . His career was interrupted byWorld War II where he was a pilot in the European theater. He flew 30 missions and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and theAir Medal with fouroak leaf clusters .Cite web
