Shaye is a Canadian pop group, consisting of singer-songwriters Kim Stockwood, Damhnait Doyle and previously Tara MacLean.

Their name is a tribute to Tara Maclean's sister, Shaye Martirano, who died on May 24, 2002, as the result of injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accident earlier that day on the Trans-Canada Highway in St. Leonard at age 26.

Biography

"The Bridge"

Shaye's debut album "The Bridge" (produced by Bill Bell and Jay Joyce) was released in 2003 on EMI Canada. The album features songs by Ron Hynes, Sinead Lohan and Crash Vegas. Support for the album included shows in Canada and Japan. "Happy Baby", the lead single, was nominated for Single of the Year at the 2004 Juno Awards. This was followed by "Beauty" in January 2005.

"Lake of Fire"

Their 2006 followup, "Lake of Fire" was released on EMI Canada. It was exclusively available on iTunes in November 2006, then released physically in February 2007. It was produced by Jay Joyce (Patty Griffin, Tim Finn, Chantal Kreviazuk) and features songs by Van Morrison, The Waterboys and Ron Sexsmith.

The packaging to "Lake of Fire" was manufactured with 100% post-consumer recycled paper with guidance from the organization Zero Footprint. Where all the natural resources used to manufacture the album will be returned to the environment by planting trees and restoring watersheds. In addition the greenhouse gasses resulting from the printing, manufacturing and transportation of the CD will be mitigated through carbon offsetting.

In September 2006, Second Cup, a Canadian coffee chain, launched a music series which included free live concerts by Canadian artists at its cafes, sales of CDs at its coffee houses and a promotion that allows purchasers of certain coffee items to download songs for free. Spearheaded by Ron Sexsmith, Second Cup's showcases also included Melissa McClelland, Veronic DiCaire and Adrienne Pierce.

Also available at Second Cup houses, Shaye released "Selections", a special promotional CD featuring 5 tracks from "The Bridge" and two tracks from "Lake of Fire". New studio tracks and exclusive live tracks were available to download from Second Cup's website.

Canadian production company Breakthrough Entertainment has started production on a factual programming project, "Shaye: This is It!". Set to premiere on CH, followed by a run on Global and CMT Canada, the new documentary series follows the band on the road as they embark on an extensive promotional campaign for "Lake of Fire".
