The Selector is a two-hour weekly radio program sponsored by the British Council, presented by DJ Andrea Oliver. Broadcasted since 2001, it airs a wide range of musical styles from the United Kingdom, with interviews and audio session from today's most important artist in the UK. It currently airs in 16 countries in 4 continents with an audience of more than 10 million people around the world. It's mission is to "promote to the world the new sounds, talents and musical style of modern Britain"

Production

Each episode last 2 hours, presenting music strictly from the UK and in a wide arrange of styles, from indie, hip hop, UK garage, jazz, roots revival, punk, and more. Bloc Party, Franz Ferdinand, Temposhark, Akira the Don, Arctic Monkeys, The Automatic, Maxïmo Park, 65daysofstatic, etc. are among the bands played.

Awards

The Selector was voted by the readers of "Wanted Music Magazine" as the Best Radio Programme, and in 2005 it won the gold award at the Sony Radio Academy Award

Airing and local producers

The English version of The Selector is produced in English by Somethin' Else, the largest independent radio producer in the UK and a top ten producer of TV entertainment. The international version is aired in the following countries, the English version is distributed for English-speaking countries. In different languages is produced by local companies and radio stations.
