Amaliapolis

Amaliapolis (Greek: Αμαλιάπολη, "Amaliápoli") is a picturesque village at the western part of the Pagasetic Gulf, in the Magnesia prefecture of Greece, also known as "Nea Mitzela". It was the northernmost border village of the newly independent Greek state, and was named after Queen Amalia, the first queen of the modern Greek state, in the 1840s.

It consists of several tavernas, all family run, a local bakery and a few family-run shops. The two main hotels are 'Hotel Amalia' and 'The Nancy Hotel'. There is a small Primary school near the main beach and a large dockyard towards the main entrance of the village. Most of the locals either work in the local fishing or agricultural industry though an increasing number continue to seek factory employment in nearby industries. It is an increasingly popular holiday destination.
