Antonio Barbaro

Antonio Barbaro (died 1679) was a military leader and member of the noble Barbaro family of Venice, Italy.

History

During the Siege of Candia, he was Captain of the Gulf from 1655-1656. In 1667 he became "Provveditore Generale in Candia (now Heraklion on Crete). He was also captain at the battle of Dardanelli and served at Zara. From 1670 he was provveditor generale of Dalmatia. When he died, he left behind 30 thousand "ducati" for the construction of the church of Santa Maria Zobenigo in Venice.
