Jeongeup ("Jeongeup-si") is a city in North Jeolla Province, South Korea. Jeongeup is connected to the Honam Expressway and Honam Line. Gochang, a city near Jeongeup, can be reached via the Seohaean Expressway, which heads to Seoul from Mokpo.

Jeongeup is located nearby Naejang-san National park, which is a very popular destination, particularly in Autumn due to its spectacular Autumn foliage.

Geography

Jeongeup is connected to Mt. Naejang National Park and Mt. Ibam with beautiful physical features.

The plain generated by Dongjin river forms large area of Jeongeup in spite of lying many mountainous areas. Dongjin river goesthrough northernwest part of itself.

Ancient tune

Jeongeup ga(Jeongeup song) is originated in Baekje era and remains as the only existing notes. Jeongeupsa sings of the lamenting heart of a woman waiting for her peddler husband’s return. [Official page]

There were lot of related legends and assumptions. It is not clear to define its origin and understanding of ancient Korean into modern language, however.

Festival

Additionally, maple festival also opens around Naejang Mt. Its maple is one of the most popular and beautiful in South Korea. It was abolished in 2002 but revivaled in 2007.
