Anders Forsbrand

.

Forsbrand was born in Filipstad, Sweden and turned professional in 1981, first played on the European Tour in 1982, and held a tour card from 1983 to 2003. He won six European tour events and finished in the top ten of the Order of Merit three times, recording victories in the 1991 Benson & Hedges Trophy with Helen Alfredsson, the 1992 Equity & Law Challenge and the 1997 Open Novotel Perrier with Michael Jonzon. He achieved his best Order of Merit ranking of fourth in 1992. In 1993, he became the first Swedish golfer to play in all four major championships in the same year.

He has a special penchant for low scoring. Forsbrand achieved his first European Tour win in the 1987 European Masters with a last round of 62 and similarly he gained his victories in the 1991 and 1992 Volvo Open di Firenze tournaments with his lowest rounds (65 and 66) each week being compiled on the last day. In 1991 Forsbrand led Sweden to victory in both the Alfred Dunhill Cup and the World Cup. In the 1994 Open Golf Championship he scored 66 - 64 in the third and final rounds for a total of 130 which is a record in the final two rounds for a Major Championship.

In 2004, Bernhard Langer, the European Ryder Cup Captain, named Forsbrand the Vice Captain for The 35th Ryder Cup Matches against the United States at Oakland Hills Country Club, Bloomfield Township, Michigan, (held from September 17-19, 2004).

Forsbrand, lives in Ponte Vedra, Florida, with his wife, Stewart, and their children Alexander and Margaux. In addition to training and coaching the Austrian Golf Federation team players, he is a frequent television commentator for European Tour events.
