"Welcome to Dead House" is the first book in R.L. Stine's Goosebumps series.

Plot

The town of Dark Falls holds a mysterious secret: those who live there have been transformed into the undead, who require fresh blood to sustain their existence. As such, they lure new families into the neighborhood, always to the same house: the "Dead House." Upon sending the undead townspeople back to their graves, Amanda and Josh Benson rescue their parents Jack and Mrs. Benson and leave Dark Falls. However, it is implied that there are more members of the undead who eluded them, leaving the story open to a sequel.

Tagline

"It will just kill you."

equel

A sequel, titled "Happy Holidays From Dead House", was to be published as the second book of the canceled "Goosebumps Gold" series.

Television adaptation

This Book was made into a T.V. version with the following differences:
*Jerry and George are absent.
*The house isn't revealed to be haunted in the TV version; rather it's the entire town after a chemical factory accident turned everyone into zombies.
*At the end, the family finds Petey the family dog on the road. They let him in, but they find out that he smells horrible, and then his fur turns pale, hinting that he is also a zombie.
