Programs
Chaparral holds a program called Design-Based Learning, or DBL. This program allows students to engage in a variety of real-world problems, including building a civilization and various other projects.
Chaparral Middle School also has an orchestra, led by Gregory Rochford. The Chaparral Middle School Orchestra contains all of the orchestra students in sixth, seventh, and eighth grade. As of the 2010-2011 school year, the orchestra has 312 attending students in the program. The eighth and seventh grade has flown to Washington D.C. to play in the John F Kennedy Centre concert hall.
Outdoor Education
Each year, Chaparral Middle School provides its students with a week-long field trip.
- Sixth grade students study at the Arrowhead Ranch Outdoor Science School.
- Seventh grade students study at the Catalina Island Marine Institute.
- Eighth grade students study at the Yosemite Institute at Yosemite National Park.Eighth graders also attend to Riley's farm, and Knott's Berry Farm.
