LaFayette L. Patterson

LaFayette L. Patterson

Lafayette L. Patterson (1888—1987) was a farmer's son from Goldville, Alabama. He served three terms in the U. S. Congress, from 1928 to 1933.

Patterson came from poverty to obtain several degrees, one from Stanford University. His career was remarkable, because he was an Alabamian elected to Congress although he was a liberal Democrat and an ardent supporter of Franklin Delano Roosevelt

He lived to be nearly 100 years old. He was survived by his dog Sam, and several former children.
