Fauna
Among the
wildlife of the park areWest Indian Manatee ,American Alligator , and 160 species of birds. Seasonal birds of prey include theBald Eagle ,Peregrine Falcon , andNorthern Harrier . The park's wading birds includeegret s,heron s, wood stork and white ibis.Historic status
Within the park is the site of the
Timucua n village ofNocoroco , located on theTomoka River . The site was inhabited approximately a thousand years ago. OnMay 7 ,1973 , it was added to the U.S.National Register of Historic Places .Recreational activities
Activities include
canoeing ,boating , andfishing , as well ashiking ,camping ,picnic king, and wildlife viewing.Amenities include a one-half mile
nature trail , amuseum that contains the work of artistFred Dana Marsh , a boat ramp, five picnic areas, and one hundred campsites.Hours
