Denbigh and Mold Junction Railway

The Denbigh and Mold Junction Railway was started in north Wales, in the early 19th Century. It closed to passengers in 1962. The Denbigh & Mold Junction Railway Heritage Trust supports the restoration of part of the former Mold - Denbigh railway line. They have several items of rolling stock that members are restoring on site. However, the chances of re-opening any section of the line are remote, given that the Trust owns only a very short piece of line and is flanked by privately owned farmland. Further, it sits in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which has already caused controversy with the bringing in of the stock for restoration.

The Denbigh and Mold Railway took over responsibility for Park Royal Vehicles class 103 railcars M50397 and M56160. The Park Royal class 103 Driving Trailer Composite M56160 is still at the closed Bodfari Railway Centre off the A541 road. Its companion power car, Driving Motor Brake Second M50397, was at the Coventry Railway Centre but was moved to the Amman Valley Railway's Swansea restoration/storage facility on 21st June 2006 [ [http://ammanvalleyrail.netfirms.com/park_royal_class_103_dmu.htm Park Royal Class 103 DMU ] ] .

There is absolutely no public access at all to the site at Bodfari but there is absolutely no need to 'trespass' as the vehicle M56160 can be viewed from the nearby council Aberwheeler Nursery which has good access and parking etc.
