Goldwyn Arthur Martin

Goldwyn Arthur Martin CC, QC, BA, LL.D (1913 - 26 February 2001) was a justice of the Ontario Court of Appeal and one of the most prominent experts in criminal law in Canada.

Martin was born in Huntsville, Ontario. He graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1938 and became a defence lawyer in 1940. During that career, he has never lost a case with any of his 60 clients facing murder charges. He was appointed to the Ontario Court of Appeal in 1973, and retired in 1988.

He was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in 1991 and further promoted to a Companion of that order in 1997. He received Doctor of Laws honorary degrees from the Queen's University and the Law Society of Upper Canada.

Martin never married. Throughout his career, he relied on his older sister Arlene to assist with his work.
