Stansted (referred to in older texts as Stanstead) [ [http://www.kent-opc.org/Parishes/Census/1891Chelsfield.html Chelsfield Parish Census dated 1891] from [http://www.kent-opc.org Kent Online Parish Clerk.org] indicating former use of "Stanstead"] is a village and rural parish in the Tonbridge and Malling district of the county of Kent in the United Kingdom (not to be confused with Stansted Mountfitchet or Stansted International Airport, both of which are in Essex).

It is located at coord|51|20|08|N|0|18|37|E|, close by the M20 motorway. The Morris dancers of Stansted were one of the earliest groups to form from the revival of the activity, in 1934.

Filming location

In January 2007 the village was used as a semi-fictional location in the filming of an episode of "EastEnders" broadcast in the United Kingdom over the Easter 2007 holiday season. On December 29th, villagers alerted the police to a man in the village brandishing a gun. The situation has been handed over to the IPCC for consideration [http://uk.reuters.com/article/domesticNews/idUKL292705220071230] .This shooting is the second fatal police shooting in the Sevenoaks area this year. Ann Sanderson, a woman with history of mental illness, was shot in June after police were alerted to an armed woman in the town centre. She was then shot, behind Iceland (shop).
