February 17 ,1970 inMissoula ,Montana ) is a former alpine ski racer, now retired and living inJackson Hole, Wyoming , where he serves as an ambassador of skiing for theJackson Hole Mountain Resort .In a surprising performance in 1994 at
Lillehammer ,Norway in, Moe became the first American male skier to win 2 medals in a singleWinter Olympics . Being of Norwegian ancestry, he quickly became a favorite with the crowd at Lillehammer.Tommy Moe learned to ski and race at
The Big Mountain in northwesternMontana , where his father was a member of theski patrol . Moe refined his skills as a teenager inAlaska at Alyeska, near Anchorage, where he attended the Glacier Creek Ski Academy. He joined theU.S. Ski Team in 1986 at age 16.
