In this book, Anna Percy is faced with love troubles, sister troubles, and so-called "friend" troubles. First, Anna has a hard time getting over Ben Birnbaum. She had just broken up with him in the first novel because he left her on his father's yacht on New Year's Eve without even texting her about where he was. She thinks that the reason he leaves her there is because she was not ready to have sex with him. While Anna tries to get over Ben she discovers that she likes Adam Flood, a good guy that she met at Sam Sharpe's father's wedding. Second, her sister Susan Percy has just checked herself out of rehab and Anna is more than worried that she won't stick to being sober. Susan has come to Los Angeles to spend time with Anna so she has booked a bungalow at the Beverly Hills Hotel. To make Anna even more worried about Susan, Susan becomes friends with some of Anna's enemies, Cammie Sheppard and Dee Young.
After dating Adam Flood for a while, Anna decides she can't handle it so she asks if they can be "just friends." Poor Adam. Sam realizes that her lesbian thoughts about Anna are wrong and she's not gay. She gives Anna some advice to get away if she wants to. So Anna goes off to a small luxury inn hoping to get away from drama. Then, Ben shows up and they have sex , in the hotel .
The second installment of the A-List series finds Anna trying to get over Ben who abandoned her on New Year's Eve. Still living with her father, she finds herself forced to attend Beverly Hill's High school and finds herself sharing classes, much to her disdain with Cammie Shepphard and Dee Young with whom a good impression was not made in the first novel. Her friendship with Samantha Sharpe however blossoms as the two work on a film project for their English class regarding the Great Gatsby. Anna's sister Susan has been kicked out of rehab and has come to Beverly Hills to spend time with her overly worrisome sister who refuses to give her any trust in her ability to thrive around alcohol. As if this wasn't enough trouble for Anna, Ben is still pining after her for forgiveness, which she refuses to authorize, but in the meantime she begins dating Adam Flood, who is your stereotypical "good guy" which towards the end Anna begins to realize that a "good guy" isn't what she wants after all, and Adam is left without Anna. Anna and Sam shoot their film project at a high class spa resort which gives Anna a chance to unwind and forget about guys for a little while, however, things unfold in a sauna when Ben decides he won't be ignored any longer.
